Absences and Tardiness

Children are considered late if they enter their classrooms after 9:05 a.m.  Late arrivals must report to the office before proceeding to their classrooms and receive a Tardy Slip from the Administrative Assistant.  It is not necessary for a parent to sign a child into the building when they are late.  Check in at the office is sufficient.

Parents must notify the school by 9:05 a.m. if a child is to be absent, tardy or dismissed. A written note must be submitted for each absence stating the date and reason of the absence.  A doctor’s note is required after five consecutive absences.  If a child has been hospitalized, a meeting should be scheduled with school personnel prior to the child returning to the classroom. Student absences affect the learning process.  While a student may make up paperwork missed, he/she can never duplicate the learning experiences lost by a day’s absence.

Chronic tardiness, dismissals and absences are closely monitored.

Arrival/Dismissal

Parent Drop Off/Pick Up is 8:50-9:00a.m./3:05 p.m. Parents are NOT to drop students off prior to 8:50.   Parents should wait with their child until 8:50.  Pick up at the end of the day:  Parents should come in to the building through the front doors.  Parents will wait in the lobby area and near the gymnasium hallway for students to be brought down for dismissal.  Parents must sign their child out prior to taking them out of the building.

All students and visitors must enter through the Main Entry and be buzzed in.  To ensure the safety of all children and staff, all doors to the building are locked.
