Music

The Fine Arts and Music programs offer a wide selection of experiences in the musical and artistic development of students of all abilities and interests. Curriculum offerings within these areas provide a solid foundation in the basic principles of art and music with opportunities for specialization, growth, and personal artistic expression. Each of the Fine Arts and Music offerings presents interdisciplinary challenges and provides opportunities for the incorporation of the student expectations within the curriculum. The student expectations include the ability to (1) read, write, and communicate effectively; (2) use mathematics, computers, and technologies effectively; (3) identify, define, analyze, and solve problems; (4) explore and express ideas through the arts; (5) acquire, process, apply, and integrate knowledge; (6) attend regularly, participate, study, and work effectively; (7) and demonstrate personal, educational, social, and civic responsibility. These expectations shall be referred to by number in the course descriptions that follow. A major goal of both of the Fine Arts and Music programs is to help students to develop their personal talents, to value and enjoy artistic and musical expression, and to understand the role of art and music in the cultural evolution of mankind.
